5 Ways You Can Support Children in Foster Care

Our goal in 2026 is to double our number of licensed foster homes. You can help!

Foster care exists to support families until children can safely return home, because reunification is always the ultimate goal. Until then, local foster parents are needed to provide safety and stability during the most difficult time of their lives.

There is an ongoing need for more foster parents, and it takes a compassionate community to step up and support these children.

Ways you can help:

  • Put a sign in your front yard – Spread the word in your neighborhood.
  • Put a D.A. Blodgett- St. John’s window sticker on your car – You can be a mobile advertisement for DABSJ.
  • Distribute foster care information meeting postcards – Help spread the word by sharing foster care information meeting postcards, post one on a bulletin board at your place of worship, your child’s school, your workplace break room, or your business lobby.
  • Share the urgent need for Foster parents in a newsletter, bulletin, etc. We can write a quick story or article, or we can create an infographic for you. Whichever you would prefer to include.
  • Host a small gathering at your home, work, religious space, book club, etc. where we can give a short presentation. We will provide drinks, snacks, and information about the needs of youth in the system, becoming a foster parent, or how they can support current foster parents, etc.
