What comes naturally to some is what makes their story stand out. Bill and Karen Lawrence were raised to give their resources, time, and talent, and they instilled that in their daughter, Maggie. As a long-time supporter to D.A. Blodgett - St. John’s (DABSJ), Bill Lawrence is a former board member and current member of DABSJ's Advisory Council, but his journey didn’t start there. Eighteen years ago he was invited to a viewing of the Harry Potter movie in support of St. John’s Home and was immediately invested in the mission of helping kids and families in their community.
Supporting the agency is a family affair for the Lawrence’s. His wife, Karen, has been an active donor and supporter, and rallied others to support DABSJ. Their daughter, Maggie, is a new member of DABSJ’s Emerging Leaders Council.
“Seeing smiling kids or hearing adults who were served in some way by DABSJ talk about how the agency helped them at a crucial time in their lives is the most rewarding part about supporting DABSJ,” the Lawrence’s share. How does someone stay committed to an agency for so long? When we asked Bill, Karen, and Maggie, they collectively gave this response, “The agency is filled with committed and talented people devoting their lives to helping young people. DABSJ does outstanding work in our community, for a population needing help. DABSJ is easy to stay committed to for us.”
